Vitamin D Deficiency in Subclinical Hypothyroid Dysfunction Patients: A Case Control Study

Background: the prevalence of subclinical hypothyroidism worldwide is commoner than overt disease. Limited studies discussed vitamin D levels in hypothyroid patients. Giving supplements may prevent form developing hypothyroidism. In this cross-sectional case-control study, we described differences adult Saudis with and without dysfunction. Methods:  This an observational single-center, retrospective, age, sex matched, study. A total 60 subjects [41 healthy controls, 19 case] were included. 25(OH) D, TSH, free T4 T3 are measured both groups. Results: Subjects dysfunction had a significantly lower serum Vitamin controls (p value 0.016) although groups fall below sufficiency levels. Correlation found between p 0.036. but it was to be less statistically significant positive relation, r 0.279, (R square = .078, beta regression coefficient -.055 <0.0005) Conclusion: Patients showed much compared has not that big role early disorders as shown relation.
